What do the cows eat?
- The cows have access to pasture and hay year round. Weather permitting, the hay is grown on our farm; otherwise, we purchase hay from local farmers. The cows also have limited access to grain, and their portions are determined by their production.
What about hormones and steroids?
- Our cows are not given hormones or steroids.
Do you use other chemicals?
- We do not use restricted chemicals on the farm.
How often is your milk tested? What is tested?
- The SC Health Department runs monthly tests on our raw milk for e.coli, bacteria, and SCC. Johnes, TB, and Brucellosis (Bangs disease) is tested yearly. We also sell raw milk for pasteurization - every batch of milk that is picked up is tested. Pickups are every other day.
What standards must you meet to receive your Grade A rating?
- We sell SC Grade A raw milk. The Grade A standards are as follows:
